Tasha Layton, known for her success on the BEC charts, unveils her latest work, “Lay It Down,” a poignant pop anthem infused with soul. This track resonates with the comforting words of Jesus from Matthew 11:30, emphasizing the ease of His yoke and the lightness of His burden. This heartfelt piece, which speaks of liberation from fears and anxieties, is the creative outcome of a collaboration between Layton, Jess Cates, Kalley Heiligenthal, and the esteemed Keith Everette Smith, a recipient of both GRAMMY® and Dove Awards, who also took the reins as its producer.
Drawing from Layton’s personal experiences of overcoming darkness and hopelessness, “Lay It Down” is a testimony to the transformative power of surrender and trust in the Divine. The song encapsulates the essence of relinquishing one’s burdens: “You say Your yoke is easy/You say Your burden’s light/You take a weary soul/Give solace every moment/And when my spirit feels heavy/I am convinced/There’s no weight you can’t bear/In faith, I lay it down.”
